With seconds ticking away, Joe Winter of River Ridge got the ball near the free throw line, but three Scales Mound Hornets immediately collapsed. Without a good shot, he saw David Buck all alone down on the block, and made a sweet pass right to him. Buck had no time to dribble, and knew it, all alone, with the Hornets caught completely out of position, he raised his arms to put in the layup that would send the game into overtime ... but the red light came on, and buzzer sounded, before the ball left his hands.
The shot was denied, and Scales Mound escaped with a thrilling 64-62 conference win...
