I’ve never really cared about my age. I mean, as far as I was concerned, it was just a number. In fact, the only time my age ever did come up was when talking with friends about stuff where their “lack” of age and experience was a factor.
My favorite was a sports conversation I can still remember having with current Lena-Winslow Athletic Director, Ryan Hahne. We were talking about baseball blunders, and – naturally – I brought up the most famous one.
“It wasn’t as bad as Bill Buckner, but it was bad.”
“Bill Buckner? What did he do?”
“Oh My God! Bill Buckner, the most famous routine ground ball...
