Pirates Take Tourney Title

The Galena Pirates continue to be the team to beat in area volleyball. But even though they won their own tournament on Saturday, it seems the competition is close than many would think.

Durand had fallen to Galena in the finals the last two years, but didn’t get that far on Saturday as they fell to Stockton in pool play. But the Bulldogs rebounded well, blowing out Annawan to make it into the consolation finals, then edged past Riverdale 27-25, 26-24 to claim the third place title.
