Keep ATV's Off The Roads

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office would like to inform and remind the public that the operation of non-highway vehicles (i.e. ATV's, UTV's, non-highway motorcycles) on streets, roads and highways is prohibited, unless otherwise exempted under the Illinois Vehicle Code. Violations of this statute may result in citations and vehicle being removed from the scene.

There are several communities in Northwest Illinois that have legalized the use of these vehicles on their city streets if they are registered, but that does not mean they are legal on county and/or state roads.
