As a kid, I used to love snow days off from school.
You’d go to bed, knowing the forecast called for some heavy snow, but knowing that – all too often – the local school district would still have school, and you’d be stuck trudging down to the bus stop the next day anyway.
But every once in a while, you’d get up early to get ready for school, and the scroll along the bottom of the local news broadcast on television listed your school district as being “closed”.
