Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more crazy … they do.
OK, I’m not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but I held the power of attorney for my mother, and was also the executor of her will, even though I am the youngest of her three children.
Originally, my older brother held those duties, but when he was overseas working as an engineering contractor in Iraq, she switched it to me because nobody knew when he might be back in the states. Later, after he did return, he suffered a stroke, which has had a major impact upon his speech, so the decision was made to keep me in charge.
