Delanie Wilhelms and Mara Schmeider paced the Eastland team to a fourth place finish at the Cross Country Oregon Regional.
A strong argument could be made that having to repeatedly compete on such a grueling course as the one at Lake Carroll paid big dividends as the Lady Cougars of Eastland qualified for the IHSA Sectional at Seneca which will be held on Halloween.
Amidst a very large and competitive field, the Cougars finished fourth at the Oregon Regional. The top five teams from each of three regionals feed into the Sectional, with a few token individuals also included if they have a strong enough finish in the race.
At Oregon, the final team scores were:
1. Winnebago – 21
