Most people never noticed, but due to the Coronavirus, Illinois relaxed the steps necessary to get your name on the ballot in a political race, and John Cook of Freeport took advantage by collecting signatures and following the requirements in order to challenge Andrew Chesney for the 89th District State Representative office in the upcoming November election.
“I was collecting signatures in an effort to be on the ballot, but I won't form a PAC until I know my petitions have withstood any objection and there is no doubt as to my candidacy,” Cook said.
