For years the path to the Girls' Basketball conference title in the NUIC West usually revolved around the battles between the Stockton Blackhawks and Eastland Cougars. But with the new alignment, the two powerhouse programs were only scheduled to meet once – Tuesday night in the championship game of the Forreston Tournament with Eastland pulling off the 48-39 victory.
And while there were plenty of eye popping plays, big shots and key possessions, the outcome of the game was decided in one three minute spurt in the second quarter.
