Every football fan knows how dominant the Lena-Winslow Panther football team is right now under coach Ric Arand. But it is questionable how many people know how it actually got its' start.
In order to trace back the history of the Panthers, you need to go back to 1948 when the Winslow Wildcats first decided to add football to their sports programs.
That first season, the Wildcats only had two practice games – one at Warren, where, "the boys were a little shy at first, but there were no officials, or a timer there. But as the game wore on they began mixing it up."
Warren won the scrimmage 20-13...
