I’m gonna ask my mother if that offer to slap me into next year is still on the table. Until further notice, the days of the week are now called, “Thisday, Thatday, Otherday, Someday, Yesterday, Today and Nextday.” This quarantine made me realize that I have no real hobbies other than going out to eat and spending money. If you thought the toilet paper thing was crazy, just wait until 300 million people all want a haircut appointment. Yesterday, my husband thought he saw a cockroach in the kitchen. He sprayed everything down and cleaned thoro...

By Paula Baysinger Morhardt You might hear a few yelps, and then, neighbors emerge from their homes and join in, forming a chorus of howls that echo through the night to end the day of isolation in a show of solidarity. From California to Colorado to Georgia to New York, Americans are howling each night at 8 p.m. in their time zone to communicate with the rest of the neighborhood, and from there the entire nation, that we are in this together. The daily howlers are connected by a Facebook group called, simply, Go Outside and Howl at 8pm. The...
We got a tremendous response on our Best of All Time survey where we had readers vote for who they thought were the best male and female athletes from the school districts we cover. Over 1200 people voted! A number that boggles the mind when we stop to think about it. But as everyone knows, I am also a theater geek, so we are now proud to present our online survey for which shows you loved the most from the eight different Theater Departments that participate in the Voice Awards. Go to our...

What are teachers when they're taking attendance? (Absent-minded!) Why is it sad that parallel lines have so much in common? (Because they'll never meet) How do the fish get to school? (By Octobus) Knock Knock Who's there? A broken pencil A broken pencil wh- Nevermind it's pointless Why do plants hate math? (Because it gives them square roots.) What does a b...
We’ve had a lot of people – mainly students, but still – asking whether or not the Voice Awards would be held this year, and the simple answer is “yes.” Many schools, like EPC, Stockton, Aquin, Lena-Winslow and Warren were rehearsing their shows for a scheduled spring performance when all of the Quarantine for Corona hit. Although they had to cancel the performances, they have all still paid royalty fees, and as one director put it, “The Theater company’s were very willing to work with us.” In...

I honestly had no idea, other than Timber Oakes, who the Broncos would have to perform as leads, but ever since he took over a couple of years ago, Joseph Davis has done wonders as Director of the Bronco program. And the fact that they were going to put on a classic comedy only added to the excitement – so what if I knew most of t...
