  • How Are You Coping?

    Dan Stevens|Jun 24, 2020

So how are you getting through the pandemic? Tired of Netflix? Finished all of those nagging home improvement projects? Sick of staring at the same four walls? After seeing my wife take off for yet another short term camping trip in her brand new “she-shed on wheels,” the question couldn’t be pushed aside. How are people getting through the quarantine – when days seem alike, showers become optional, and we can no longer measure time – what do you do to keep from losing your sanity? We asked peo...

  • The Lighter Side

    Jun 24, 2020

We hadn't run our "lighter side" feature in a while, and heard about it – so ... here ya go! Once they come out with a Cornovirus vaccine, I don't want to see any of you antivaxxers getting one. Don't be a hypocrite! My prediction: There will be a minor baby boom in nine months, and then one day in 2033, we will see the rise of the "Quaranteens"! Has it occurred to anybody else that every single disaster movie ever made always starts with the government ignoring some scientist who is trying to warn them? Quarantine Diary: Day 1: I have stocked...

  • Our Favorite Musicals

    Dan Stevens|May 13, 2020

Similar to the Best Athlete survey we did with a Google Form, we had a survey out to find which musicals that each school produced over the last ten years qualified as your favorites. And, while we didn't get nearly as many responses for the musicals as we did for the athletics – 584 votes still qualifies as a legitimate response. So, what follows are the final votes for each school, and then – just because – I decided to give you my votes. Partly because I could, but also because – like most of...

  • The Lighter Side

    May 13, 2020

Yeah, that might be helpful right now. Fact – In four weeks 88% of all blondes disappeared from the earth. The Powerball is up to an 18 pack of Charmin. Who would have ever guessed we'd see the day where a roll of toilet paper is more expensive than a gallon of gas. No hair salons, nail salons or tanning beds ... some of you guys are about to meet your girlfriends for...

  • UFOs Identified

    Dan Stevens|May 6, 2020

Last Sunday evening, my wife and I were outside sitting around a fire pit with our neighbors, and keeping the required six feet of separation when suddenly out of the blue our neighbor bolted upright. "What the hell is that?" she explained pointing towards the sky. We all quickly turned, and were struck by the amazing sight that captivated – and concerned us all at the same time. High up in the night sky, seeming to come from out of the darkness to the West, was a line of "stars" that was m...

  • National Tourism Week

    Nicole Haas, Greater Freeport Partnership|May 6, 2020

The Greater Freeport Partnership and other travel ambassadors throughout the area remain unified and supportive of each other...

  • Bronco Wax Museum

    Stacey Brown, Orangeville Elementary Teacher|May 6, 2020

This year's Orangeville 4th graders have worked for three weeks to prepare for their Living Wax Museum. In the past, this is a big end-of-the-year event for students, and we invite the school, families, and friends to see them perform as their "button" gets pushed. This year, the button happened to be "play" on an app called Seesaw, and only our class and families got to enjoy these wonderful performances, but they were amazing! The class learned the history of multiple characters including athl...
