The trustees of the Harry R. and Gertrude Zweifel Trust announce that applications for post-high school educational grants are now available for the 2021 – 2022 school year. The Stockton FFA chapter would like to thank everyone that came out for the plant sale on Wednesday, May 5. The event was a great success, and we sold out of almost all of our plants. Our chapter will be having a second plant sale on Thursday, May 20 from 1 to 5:30 at the FFA greenhouse. The greenhouse is located between the Stockton Middle School and High School. The Pearl City Lions Club is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 scholarships awarded by the club. All recipients are 2021 graduates of Pearl City High School and plan to further their education at the college level. The State finals of the Academic Challenge were completed for 2021, with several area students coming away with medals. The Academic Challenge has students take college level exams in two chosen subjects by the students. Illinois Farm Bureau will be the financial sponsor of this year’s Illinois Press Foundation mini-grants program that assists existing media programs at public and private high schools throughout the state. Highland Community College Forensics team had strong showings at two virtual tournaments at the end of February and early March at the Illinois Intercollegiate Forensics Association State Tournament against community colleges and four-year universities.
