When Sylvia Vehemeier of The Mill Furnishings pulls discontinued upholstery fabric from her display racks, she doesn't expect them to boomerang back into her shop again. But they do! Reborn into pillows handcrafted by an artistic local sheep farmer, the recycled squares reappear in her gift shop, The South Door. When first asked if she would donate the 16-inch squares to local artist Aby Breed, Vehemeier immediately said yes. "I love the idea of keeping these beautiful fabrics out of the...
It all started in a conversation I had with a random group of people sitting around a table over Thanksgiving. Not being sure of what the conversation was about, I took a seat and said, “What are you guys talking about?” Someone asked: “Do you believe we actually went to the moon?” I said, yes, of course I do. And they wanted to know why? Well, I have lots of reasons why, but none the least of which, is why not? Why would the government go to great extremes to create a hoax then try to perpetu...

Black Friday: Because only in America will people trample others for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have. Personally, I actually enjoy Black Friday. It’s the one day I know exactly where all the nut jobs are and how to avoid them. Black Friday should actually be called the Hunger Games. People kill each other and the winner gets a $20 crock pot. Your Black Friday shopping trip leads to my Blue Saturday of bill paying. Homemade gifts are the perfect way to say, I’ve got a lot more time than money. It doe...
