The Freeport Park District was awarded a $15,000 grant for tree planting in Winter Park. The funds were provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Urban and Community Forestry Partner Grant Program, and administered by The Morton Arboretum and the Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI). They tell me that it is because of the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe V Wade that pregnancy crisis centers are being bombed and attached in a variety of ways. A few months ago, somebody sent me an anonymous package in the mail postmarked from Tinley Park, Illinois. My Dad was very old school when it came to voting. Every time people complained about low voter turnout, he immediately stated how much he liked it when the turnout was low. “Don’t vote,” he’d say. “That just makes my vote count for more.” Mathematically, he had a point. Lanark Blaine Hardacre, 90 Blaine Hardacre really liked to visit with people. His goodbyes took time and included his affirmation of love. At the age of 90, Blaine Hardacre, of Lanark, IL passed into the arms of God on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Winn Prairie Assisted Living Community in Freeport. The Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) recently announced the 2022 winner of the Kasasa Scholarship. The Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC) program remains a trusted resource for Stephenson County children to learn about agriculture.
