Lena Johanne Wingert, 91 Johanne Wingert, 91, of Lena, IL, passed away on Thursday June 23, 2022, at the Lena Living Center. Johanne was born on March 16, 1931, in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Ervin and Esther (Blocher) Biesemeier. She attended Rees School and graduated from Lena High School in 1949. She married Boyd Wingert on March 4, 1950. They observed their 72nd anniversary this year. Voters in Lena and the Orangeville School Districts resoundingly approved referendums in the June 28 primary election while candidates in other races were victorious and advance to the General Election in November. For 34 years Virgil Martin, of Lena owned and operated Lena Milling, but all of that is coming to a well-deserved end. After returning home from serving in the military, Virgil Martin began helping on his family farm. In June 1959, on a routine stop by what was then the Hire Feed Mill, Virgil asked the owner if he needed any help; Virgil was hired on the spot.
