High School Graduation – where finishing one of the easiest and most basic parts of life is suddenly a huge deal. For my graduation speech, I would like to thank the Internet, Google, Wikipedia, Microsoft Office and Copy/Paste. Some people graduate with honors, others are just honored to graduate. Now that I’m graduating … I just hope this B.S. pays off. I graduated. So, now I’m like smart and stuff. The first call I got after I graduated was my University asking for a donation. You may have graduated, but you’re not finished with Show and...

  • Your Voices

    May 29, 2024

Hello again, Dan. This note and donation is to encourage you to continue the All-Star Volleyball game well beyond the third year of existence. The ll-Star Volleyball game is a great way to showcase the fantastic talent this area has to offer. You have answered my wishes, and I greatly appreciate your efforts. Watching from the stands last year, I could tell the crowd was in agreement with me. Listening to Nicole (Brinker) provide the fun commentary was an exceptional surprise! She was great! It was a great showcase and a lot of fun to watch....

  • Preacher's Piece

    Kevin Cernak|May 29, 2024

Someone has aptly said, “There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there are people who don’t know what’s happening.” I’d like you to meet some people in the Bible who made things happen. In Hebrews 11, we are introduced to a man named Moses where it says: “By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.” As a prince, Moses had all kinds of wealth and prestige and everything else. But he had a choice to mak...

  • Point To Ponder

    Dan Stevens|May 29, 2024

What is a dog? I mean, can you describe a dog? Some might say, “A four-legged carnivorous mammal with floppy ears and a tail.” But that doesn’t fit because not all dogs have floppy ears, and I swear my family once had a dog who loved grapefruit! You can try to look up “dog” in the dictionary, but even they can’t lock it down in spite of multiple paragraphs all trying to answer one simple question – What is a dog? If you think about it, the question is nearly impossible to define. And yet, I co...

  • Heart Of A Bronco

    Dan Stevens|May 29, 2024

For the third time, the Orangeville Broncos squared off against the Dakota Indians – this time in the Softball Sectional semi-final – but unlike any game played between the two ... ever – things got out of hand early. The Broncos got the lead batter out – which was big, because Finley Banks is already a star. But the next one hit a short fly to right that was dropped for an error – putting a runner on first with one out. That was when catcher, Kendra Nehring stepped into the box. The only left...

  • Gotta Get 'Em In

    Dan Stevens|May 29, 2024

The old saying in baseball is pretty simple, Get 'em on, Get 'em over, Get 'em in." In the Sectional semi-final against the host Forreston Cardinals, the Panthers certainly got 'em on – in fact they had runners on base in every single inning of the game. They also got 'em over – Lena-Winslow had runners in scoring position in every inning except the first, and in four of the seven innings, they had a runner at third. But getting them in, was a problem. The Panthers left 11 runners on base in...

Saying goodbye to our group of seniors who did wonderful things in our community is hard. Saying hello to our new team members is exciting. Having both groups together for a celebration cookout?
