When a game finishes with seven total points between two teams, the questions always persist, "Is that because there were good defenses or pitiful offenses?" The answer is usually a combination of both. That was certainly the case in Dakota's 7-0 win over the Eastland/Pearl City Wildcatz. EPC allowed Dakota to move the ball between the 20s, but clamped down twice in the first half in the red zone, turning away the Indians on potential scoring drives. Any team that has the Lena-Winslow Panthers on their schedule has to have their coaches wondering how they could possibly beat them. Big, strong, fast...if there's an attribute or skill that can help in the sport of football, the Panthers have it. On top of all that, the Panthers are driven by a loss in the state playoffs a year ago and determined they don't repeat the past. Penalties, dropped passes, missed blocking assignments, fumbles. The game saw them all, as the two offenses sputtered their way through most of the first...
The Stockton Blackhawks are a team full of hungry players. Although the Blackhawks didn't graduate a lot of players from last year's team in terms of numbers, they did graduate a lot in terms of importance to their team. That allowed for the opportunity for some players to step into larger roles, and many current Blackhawks are looking to take advantage of that opportunity. Offensively, the graduation of Conference Player of the Year Colin Dvorak opened up the opportunity for more carries....
